Zerem completed the replacement of the fire alarm system at Toronto Community Housing Corporation’s 1021 Birchmount Road property, an 11-storey residential building with 236 apartments, originally built in 1972.
The project involved a full upgrade of the building’s fire alarm infrastructure, including the installation of conduit, wiring, fire alarm devices, booster panels, and associated riser work within tenant closets. Zerem’s scope also included scanning and coring, construction of a fire-rated enclosure, installation of conduit and boxes for risers, wire pulling, programming of the fire alarm control panel, and full system verification.
Following successful verification of the new fire alarm system, Zerem completed the demolition and removal of the existing system, delivering a complete life-safety upgrade for this occupied multi-residential building.
The work took place in 2024 and 2025.
