TCHC Fire Alarm Upgrades at 30 & 40 Teesdale Place
A complete fire alarm system replacement for two buildings, each with 290 apartments. The work included new fire alarm speakers in the apartments, strobes in the corridors, replacement of all fire alarm devices, and verification. The work was completed in early 2019.
New Fire Alarm System for TDSB’s Parkdale Junior and Senior Public School
The supply, installation, and verification of a new fire alarm system, including conduit, wiring, and devices. The work was completed in summer 2019.
TCHC Smoke Alarm Replacement
The supply & installation of new lithium-battery 10-year smoke/CO alarms for over 4800 dwellings to replace existing smoke alarms for Toronto Community Housing tenants. The work took place in summer/fall 2018.
New Fire Alarm System at 250 Davenport for TCHC
Supply and installation of all conduit, wiring, and devices for a new fire alarm system, and then verification, in this 449-unit apartment building for Toronto Community Housing. The work was completed in summer 2019.
Energy Retrofit Program for Toronto Community Housing Corp
Energy cost-savings work, primarily consisting of upgrading the common-area lighting to LED, for three TCHC buildings located at 15 Tobermory, 75 Tandridge, and 57 Mabelle. The general contractor is Buttcon, and the work wrapped up in late 2018.
Separately, Zerem also did the electrical work for individual metering of 565 suites for TCHC at 3847 Lawrence Avenue East, 10 Boultbee, and 80 Blake Street. This work was also for Buttcon, and was completed in summer 2018.
Fire Alarm System Replacement at Humber Summit Middle School
The replacement of the fire alarm system at this school in North York, for the Toronto District School Board. The job took place in summer/fall 2018, with switchover completed in early 2019.
Fire Alarm Upgrade for Toronto Community Housing at Weston Towers
The fire alarm system upgrade for this 18-storey apartment building in North York. This includes supply and installation of an addressable main fire alarm control panel, voice evacuation system and all associated equipment. The fire alarm system was swapped in late 2017.
TCHC Lighting Upgrade at Empringham Mews
Upgrade of the exterior lighting at a 165-unit Toronto Community Housing complex, including solar-powered lighting for energy efficiency. This improved night time lighting and therefore is important for safety in the neighbourhood. This job was completed in early 2017.
Fire Alarm Installation Upgrade for TCHC at 90 Parma Court
Replacement of the fire alarm system at 90 Parma Court for the Toronto Community Housing Corp. The project was completed in fall 2017.
TTC Bathurst – Lighting
Lighting upgrade at Bathurst Station for the TTC, including removal of existing light fixtures and supply and installation of new light fixtures. The general contractor was Duron Ontario Ltd and the work took place in early 2019.
Fire Alarm System Replacement at Regal Road Public School
The replacement of the fire alarm system at this century-old school in the Dovercourt area, for the Toronto District School Board. The job wrapped up in fall 2017.
TCHC Fire Alarm Refurbishments at Three Sites
Upgrade of the fire alarm system at three Toronto Community Housing residential sites (five buildings): Beecroft Manor, East York Acres, and Don Summerville. There were a total of over 600 apartments, and the work took place in the fall of 2016.
The job included the replacement of all fire alarm system devices, new conduit and wire, and additional devices as required under new fire regulations requiring one audible device per bedroom.
City Hall Parking Garage Lighting Upgrade
Lighting retrofit of a large four-level underground garage. Garage remained occupied and operational during the construction period. The work included all new distribution panels, new conduits and wires throughout, new lighting fixtures and removal and disposal of all old conduits systems and old light fixtures.
Work was challenging due to tight construction schedule, large physical size of the facility and the need to minimize interruptions. Work required detailed scheduling, implementation of safe work methods, and close coordination with the client and the consultant. The work took place from fall 2009 through summer 2010.
Fire Alarm System Upgrade for the Toronto Parking Authority
The fire alarm system upgrade of a large parking garage at 2 Church Street, the TPA Carpark #43. The work was completed in 2006.
